How
do you choose the CMC Top 30 Countdown?
The
Top 30 is
based on
the total
number of
plays each
clip gets
in the previous
2 weeks.
In turn,
the number
of plays
is influenced
by viewer
requests
on the website,
the quality
of the song & clip,
and a bit
of our
opinion. |

|
I
loved that
clip/show.
Can you make
a copy on
VHS for me?
Our
licensing
agreements
with the
labels do
not allow
us to make
copies for
viewers.
In any event,
we do not
have enough
staff to
make copies
of any of
our shows.
You'll just
have to watch
CMC! |

I
used to see
clips from
my favourite
artist on
CMT & Music
Country.
Why don't
you play
them?
CMC
was started
from scratch
in May 2002.
That means
CMC did not
get any of
the clips
or shows
that CMT
Australia
or MC used
to air. Tracking
down broadcast
quality versions
of music
videos is
quite difficult.
We try to
find material
from record
labels & artist
management
whenever
possible.
In many cases,
labels no
longer have
video clips
from even
4 or 5 years
ago. We are
always trying
to find more
material,
so if there
is a particular
artist you'd
like to see
on CMC, send
us an email,
and we'll
add the act
to our wishlist. |

Why
don't you
play shows
from CMT
in the USA?
2
reasons.
First, most
shows aired
on/produced
by CMT in
the USA are
not cleared
for broadcast
outside of
North America.
This is mostly
due to the
fact that
musicians
(primarily
band members)
are paid
extra if
their performance
is aired
outside the
USA. If a
show is sold
in, say 10
territories,
then that
extra cost
is split
between all
ten broadcasters
in those
countries.
Country specific shows are rarely of interest
to broadcasters outside the USA, except for
Australia. So the costs are too high for
CMC to handle at this time. In a nutshell,
most CMT shows are not for sale outside North
America.
The 2nd reason. Buying TV shows is expensive.
CMC is a young channel with a small budget.
We try to buy the best shows we can with
the money we have. As time goes by, we'll
have more subscribers, more advetisers and
more budget to buy more shows. It'll take
time, but CMC will gradually get bettter & better.
Stay tuned! |

Why
don't you
play more
classic material,
like Jim
Reeves, Charley
Pride & Slim
Whitman.
These
artists were
popular long
before the
video era
(which began
around 1985)
and very
little visual
material
exists. For
CMC to play
a clip from
an artist,
the clip
must exist
in the first
place, and
the clip
needs to
be available
to CMC. Very
few artists
made videos
in the 60s & 70s
and early
eighties.
We are trying
to find more
classic material,
but it is
a very long
process.
We hope to
introduce
a 'classic'
country show
at some pint
in the future. |

I'd
like to submit
a video clip
so CMC can
play it.
What are
the requirements?
We're happy to consider videos for airplay from any country artist. The main requirement is a copy of the clip on DIGITAL BETACAM. Be sure to include some basic information, like the album title, even if it's not due to be released for a while. This allows us to put some information on the "3rd line".
The main thing we consider is, "How well does the clip sit in a mix of quality Aussie & Nashville Country". CMC sits next to Channel [V], Max and several other music channels & we need to maintain a standard of quality. The better the clip the more it is likely to be played. For independent acts, it is now possible to make a decent quality clip for less than $5000.
We look for good lighting & colour grading. Our goal at CMC is to create more fans of country music, so if you think your clip can help us do that, then send it in.
If you would like us to have a look at your video before you go to the expense of dubbing to Digital betacam, send us a copy on DVD. We’ll have a look and advise you whether we’ll play it or not. You’ll then need to get us a copy on digital betacam.
Don't forget! We need digital betacam for clips to be aired on CMC. SUBMISSIONS ON VHS OR DVD WILL GENERALLY NOT BE CONSIDERED (except to advise as noted above).
Also, due to the volume of material that we receive, we generally do not return tapes. The tape you send is the one we use on air.
You can request that we send your tape back, but we cannot say "Yes, we will". We can only say "We'll try". So don't send us your master copy.
And don't include supers (artist/title) on your clip. We do that bit.

I'm
wondering
about those
tickets I
bought? Where
are they?
Can I have
a reciept?
CMC
does not
sell tickets
to any concert
or gig. Our
role is to
help get
the word
out when
it comes
to great
live music,
whether it
be The National
Music Muster,
Keith Urban,
Kasey Chambers,
or shows
during the
Tamworth
Festival.
For information
on tickets,
receipts
for tickets,
or any other
infomration
regarding
shows it's
best to check
with the
promoter,
the venue
or the ticket
agent. |

Why
do you repeat
Country Music
Across America
so much?
There
is a new
episode of
Country Music
Across America
(CMAA) every
2 weeks.
It airs in
the USA on
Great American
Country (GAC).
CMC airs
CMAA 8 times
each week
because we
recognise
that people
are busy & not
everyone
can see it
at the same
time each
week. The
show is scheduled
at different
times on
different
days (including
midnight
Tuesday)
so as many
country fans
as possible
can see it.
There is a good chance that CMAA will become
a weekly show sometime in 2005. |

What
time zone
does CMC
use for the
TV guide & email
request notification.
CMC
is based
in Sydney & we
use Sydney
time for
all of our
communications
through magazine,
on-air promos & emails.
If you live
in a different
time zone,
you'll need
to do the
necessary
math. |

Does
it cost anything
to become
a member
of CMC?
No,
it is absolutely
free. Just
go to our
registration
page

I
just made
a request
on the CMC
website,
how long
before it
is played?
It
depends.
Current hits
records get
played 2
to 5 times
per day,
so if you
request something
current,
you won’t
have to wait
long. If
you request
an older
clip, it
might take
a few days. |
|
|
 |
|
|
Why
won't you
play my request?
In
most cases,
it’s because
we simply
don’t have
the clip.
If you can’t
find the
clip in the
CMC video
clip database,
then we don’t
have it.
Also remember,
clips aren’t
made for
every song,
so your favorite
song might
not exist
in video
form. |

Why
isn't there
better program
information
in the magazine?
The
editors of
the Austar & Foxtel
magazines
have final
say on what
is included
in their
respective
magazines.
CMC provides
complete
program information,
but much
of it is
not inlcuded
in the music
channels
listings.
We are encouraging
the magazines
to include
key highlights
each month.
Check the
CMC website
for more
in depth
coverage
of programming. |

|
I
loved that
clip/concert/show
you ran last
night, can
I get a copy?
Where can
I buy it?
Our
agreements
with record
labels and
distributors
of programs
prohibit
us from making
copies for
viewers.
If you want
to purchase
programs,
it's best
to see if
they are
available
at the usual
retail outlets.
There are
several websites
that offer
a wide variety
of videos & DVDs.
You might
check www.EZYDVD.com.au or www.amazon.com or www.hmv.com.au. |

 |
|
How
much of your
programming
is Australian?
It
varies from
day to day,
but generally
about 30%.
CMC is programmed
entirely
from Australia,
and is directly
involved
in the local
country music
industry. |

You’re
not going
to start
playing rock
music are
you?
Our
brief is
to be the
best locally
produced
Country Music
Channel we
can be. That
means country
music. How
do we define
it? Well,
we know it
when we hear
it. You might
see some
alt.country
or rockabilly
late at night,
or the odd
country friendly
KD Lang,
Chris Isaak
or Paul Kelly
clip. That’s
about as
far off the
country track
as we will
get. No Lenny
Kravitz,
Green Day
or Jewel.
You can catch
those fine
artists on
musicMAX. |

|
 |
|
|
Why
didn't I
receive a
personal
response
to an e-mail
I sent to
CMC?
Each
and every
e-mail received
is read.
While most
letter writers
get a personal
response,
we cannot
guarantee
a response
in every
case. |
